My all-time favorite is Metroid. I can remember bringing down Mother Brain with two energy tanks to spare (or was it three). It was the first time that I felt the rush from a gaming experience, and it seemed to fuel the future.
My time on this earth can be measured in video games. Wow. As I am working more and more on /afk I have begun to realize the depth of my own relationship with the gaming world and the games that define me.
How much time has been spent? That is something that need not ever be answered because I have absolutely no regrets.
Anyone have any personal favorites that ring true for you…
Greg

For me it was Metal Gear Solid(for PS1) that captivated my creative mind for a solid three week period, which is to this day the longest I have ever been in ties with a video game.
Comment by Nick June 18, 2007 @ 11:45 amIt was Everquest that changed my life forever. I had always been a gamer, but when I realized the complexity and potential of online virtual worlds, it made me change my career path and get into gaming as a career. I worked my way from tester to design on Everquest II and I was creating inside the very world that had sparked my transition into gaming. Thanks EQ!

Comment by Greg Stuetze June 23, 2007 @ 4:56 pmthe first games I can remember playing from that list are Super Mario Bros and Metroid, which is my all time favorite title on the NES to this day, but I was absolutely enthralled when The Legend of Zelda – Ocarina of Time came out. I consider it the greatest game ever made, and when I was playing it, I could not get enough of galloping around Hyrule Field on Epona, followed by some dungeon bashing…
Metal Gear Solid was the best series I’ve played on the Playstation (the first two consoles anyways), and Nick, trust me, I know where you’re coming from when you talk about being enthralled by that game.
Star Wars Galaxies was an interesting time in gaming for me, because it was the first MMO game I had played, and honestly, the anticipation for the game ended up killing the actual experience of playing it, because of the weighty expectations that I had piled on beforehand. I guess it was fun while it lasted though…
And I haven’t even mentioned any Blizzard games…
Ahhh…
Comment by Aaron June 28, 2007 @ 8:51 pmI’d have to say any EA NHL or FIFA game, Winning 11 Seven, Off Road, Rally Cross, and Mario Cart are probably my most played games. We would have 3 ring binders full of stats that we kept on our own. We had time trial records for everysingle track in the racing games, and an on going point system. Hours and Hours were spent on these games.
